Technology creates a line to information that students have not had access to before. There is a wide variety of information that is available online which allows students to do their own exploration and better understand sources. However, this access can take away from certain censors taught in a classroom previously and misinformation is possible from false sources online. Using technology also keeps schools and students in a parallel to changes in the world, as it engages teachers to think outside the box to use lessons that are relevant to the tech that students use. Personal exploration that students engage in through technology in the classroom gets students to learn material in meaningful ways. Traditional classrooms, on the other hand, don’t allow for this engagement. Teachers treat students in a banking system, and not everyone can learn in that envoriment. Active/Digital learning allows to students to develop and anaylize multiple perspectives and ideas.

Although mostly positive, there is a Con to soly digital learning. Expecting students to learn more digitally also expects every student to be digitally literate. Some student might not have access to tech and some student may also learn better with more physical pen and paper.

Both Thomas Edge’s and Carla Vecchiola‘s descriptions of using digital exhibits. Digital Archive Collections allow for deeper knowledge using historical sources.

It’s important to recognize that there are different perspectives in using technology. On one hand it allows for students to get a wider perspective of different historical concepts and topics, while others may see it as a rabbit hole of possible misinformation and setting up early preconceived notions of difficult topics.
