My cat Tuxedo intensely staring at some roses I got (he destroyed them shortly after this photo was taken, unfortunately).

One of my biggest introductions to enjoying history was most likely watching John Green’s Crash Course in History. While I liked learning about history, it was how we interacted with Crash Course in a way that felt more connected than watching a history channel documentary. I’ve always been interested in how classes can incorporate media and tech into education in a meaningful way. I have also really enjoyed watching Kaz Rowe’s historical content YouTube Videos, and its been interesting learning about the industrial age in a different light. I enjoy looking into digital archives, such as newspapers.com (warning: there is a pay wall).

Hi! I’m Melissa McElwee, and in this class I hope to gain more on sorting through archives and how to apply that to using archives and other forms of technology in the classroom. I am also hoping to gain more technology skills in this class. While I am currently a history education major, I plan on pursuing a library science degree, and hopefully, work in an archive.
