“Fair use law is fluid, and hard for non-lawyers (and most non-IP lawyers, and even some IP lawyers!) to parse. However, both case law and legal/industry consensus have led to a collection of practices that are generally understood to constitute fair use. If you are doing one of those things, you’re probably safe. “

This quote really stuck out to me because even as a younger kid I was always told to make sure to cite sources and make sure I gave the author or creator credit. I think that it is interesting to see that there are not necessarily a hard set of rules to be followed. While there are guidlines that should be followed. This article really showed me the variances in rules or what not associated with fair use and copyright. For example rules that may apply to quoting an author do not apply to music. Which I think is interesting, because all of it is work created by someone in different mediums. For teaching I think this is interesting because you are supposed to take copyright laws into consideration before showing something. For example public use laws are different than I guess what would be private use laws. The chart was very informative and a good tool. It helped to visualize the process of making sure something follows copyright laws and fair use laws. Overall I think after seeing both of the articles I realized the complexity of these laws. I think that going forward it is something I should pay more mind too.
